After teasers, Xiaomi today confirmed the launch of Xiaomi 17 series at an event in China on September 25th. These will include the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and the new Xiaomi 17 Pro models.
These will be the first phones to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC that will be introduced this week. Regarding the phones, the company said:
The Xiaomi 17 is said to pack a 7000mAh battery with 90W fast charging, the Xiaomi 17 Pro will pack a 6300mAh battery with 100W fast charging and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is said to come with a 7500mAh with 100W fast charging. All the phones will come with wireless charging support.
Xiaomi Group Chairman and CEO Lei Jun also announced that he will hold his sixth annual speech at the event. The theme will be "Change," and he will discuss the stories behind the Xiaomi XRING chip and Xiaomi Auto.
Xiaomi will also introduce the Xiaomi Pad 8 series at the event alongside. The Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad Pro will pack an 11.2-inch 3.2K resolution LCD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, and Soft Light Screen Edition options.
These feature a unibody metal design, gets Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC for the Pad 8 and Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC for the Pro model with AnTuTu score of 3 million, and its performance is improved by 69% compared with the previous generation. The Pad 8 series will pack a 9200mAh battery and 67W fast charging.
