Today it has been announced that Somerset CCC points was deducted in the Rothesay County Championship.
After a hearing on September 11The Independent Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) confirmed that the club has been deducted with another four-point deduction that has been suspended until the end of the County Championship season 2027.
The sanction is imposed for what is considered a violation of the ECB -Pitch instructions after an investigation by the cricket regulator after the competition officials for the Somerset against the Somerset V Durham Rothesay County Championship match in July assessed the field as below the average.
With regard to this announcement, CEO of Somerset, Jamie Cox said: Although we are disappointed by the outcome, we are happy that the tribunal has rejected every suggestion that the club deliberately wanted to produce a substandard wicket. We also want to thank the CDP for their clarity and transparency during the hearing process.
Somerset County Cricket Club will always strive to produce the best possible pitches that ensure a fascinating match between bat and ball.
