Starting Sunday, the No. 53 Pulaski route will be extended to Ford City Mall, and the 53A South Pulaski route will end at the Pulaski Orange Line station.
"We've seen ridership increase across many of those routes significantly. It shows, that when you add service, the riders will follow because they get frequent reliable service that reduces their wait times, that they can rely on," acting CTA President Nora Leerhsen said.
The CTA says these extensions will allow the bus routes to reach another 69,000 people.

Four more routes are also joining CTA's "frequent network," providing service every 10 minutes or less between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, starting Sunday, the CTA said.
Those include No. 53 Pulaski, No. 55 Garfield, No. 77 Belmont and No. 82 Kimball/Homan.
"CTA's bus system is critical to the lives of hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans who rely on transit every day," Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said. "The changes being made to CTA's services through the Frequent Network benefit everyone by providing Chicagoans with a frequent and reliable network of bus routes that offer critical connections and access to resources such as schools, shopping centers, jobs and more that they need to thrive in our city."
Sunday service will also be implemented on the No. 93 California/Dodge beginning on Sunday.
