Pumpkin Fest promises thrills and chills while supporting kids with cancer

JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) -- Get ready for some fall fun at the Ninth Annual Pumpkin Fest.

This exciting event will take place on October 11 at Harborside Place in Jupiter, with all proceeds benefiting the Chasing a Dream Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children battling life-threatening illnesses and disabilities.

The Pumpkin Fest promises a day filled with fun activities, including a pumpkin patch, a haunted house by Demented Graphics, live music, food, and trick-or-treating with over 50 vendors. Kids are encouraged to come dressed up in costumes to join in the festive spirit.

Lori Griffith, Executive Director of Chasing a Dream, appeared on ARC Florida alongside Tobias, a young warrior from the foundation, and his mother, Charity. They shared stories of hope and support that the foundation provides to families in need.

Lori explained, "We assist families with children facing serious health challenges, including cancer and cystic fibrosis. To date, we have given over $1.4 million in support to help them remain in their homes and cover essential needs like food and medical equipment."

Tobias, who was diagnosed with leukemia, is celebrating six months in remission, which is a significant milestone for him and his family.

Charity expressed gratitude for the emotional and financial support they received from the foundation during their challenging journey, highlighting how critical it has been for them.

Lori also showcased a stunning painting by Paul Seaman, a talented local artist. This art piece will be auctioned off at their gala in March, adding another way for the community to support the cause.
