The winning streak continues right into the Western Mass. tournament for the Blue Devils. By sweeping Amherst-Pelham on Tuesday night, Northampton secured their 13th victory in a row and moved to 14-1 on the season.
At first singles Reilly Fowles had the smoothest time for Northampton, winning 6-1, 6-0. Durrell Patrcik brought home second singles for the hosts, winning 6-1, 6-4.
Kaz Sugihara wrapped up the singles sweep for Northampton by going 6-1, 6-2 at thirds.
In the first doubles matchup, it was Ollie Levine and Reed O'Connor who won 6-1, 6-1 for Northampton.
The only real trouble of the match came during second doubles. Arlo Bourdon Levy and Emiliano Hidalgo dropped the first set 1-6, before taking the next two, 6-4, and 6-3 for Northampton to secure the sweep.
No. 2 Longmeadow (5), No. 3 Minnechaug (0)
Longmeadow bested Minnechaug once again on Tuesday, this time in the Class A Western Mass. tournament. The Lancers dominated on the court to sweep the Falcons in the semifinal victory.
In the singles matches, Will Wartman snagged the first win of the day at 6-1, 6-3. John Rousou followed and handed his opponent a 6-2, 6-2 defeat. Sawyer Allen won his first set with ease at 6-0, but was put to the test in the next one. Yet, Allen secured the singles sweep for Longmeadow with the 7-5 edge.
During doubles, Richard Li and James Wray claimed the first win at 6-4, 6-2 as the duo has continued to take control of their matches. To wrap up the contest, Jackson Combe and Atharv Gaddam saw some push back in the final match of the day, but came out on top at 6-4, 7-6.
The Lancers advance to the Class A finals where they will face No. 1 Northampton for the title on a date and time yet to be determined.
