January Jones Brings Son Xander, 13, Into Spotlight, Talks About Raising Him In Family Of Women - uInterview

January Jones was spotted recently posing with her rarely seen son at Oceana Sea Exchange's 23rd anniversary.

The Mad Men star stood next to her now 13-year-old son, Xander, who very rarely makes public appearances. He dressed up in an all linen outfit while his mother wore a black maxi dress with matching heels and a headband.

Jones posted an Instagram carousel commemorating the gala, featuring photos of her swimming with sharks in the ocean, accompanied by a photo of her and Xander. She covered her son's face with a light blue heart emoji.

"So excited to celebrate Oceana's 23rd birthday and attend @oceanaseachange last night!" she captioned the Instagram post.

"Sharks are my 2nd favorite animal," she continued. "They're iconic, powerful, and essential to the health of our oceans. But they're also under threat. That's why I've been a longtime supporter of @oceana who campaigns to protect sharks and keep our oceans healthy."

The actress hardly ever brings her son into the spotlight, having last brought him on a red carpet when he was ten years old. She only posts about him on social media for his birthday. Jones has never revealed the name of his father, though she dated Jason Sudeikis for many years.

On his 13th birthday, Jones posted a photo of Xander in front of a sunset, captioned "Bday boy is a teen😩."

She also posted a video of him dancing in Malibu on his 12th birthday on Instagram. "Happy birthday to my child. So proud to be yours," she wrote. "Couldn't love you more."

The actress also opened up about her motherhood journey six years after she gave birth to Xander.

"My younger sisters and my mum and my doula were in the room," she said. "My brother-in-law and my dad were next door. I only wanted women with me. Female energy. And I was embarrassed - your body does all these crazy things. It was a 30-hour process, but it was awesome. I'd love to do it again."

She also opened up about what it was like to raise her son in the care of women.

"It's good to have strong women around a man," she said. "To teach him to respect women. He doesn't have a male person in his life saying 'don't cry' or 'you throw like a girl.' All those shitty things dads accidentally do."

Her rare public appearance comes shortly after she made a jab at President Donald Trump on social media after her United Airlines flight was delayed over 16 hours.

"A couple of $15 food vouchers isn't gonna cut it, our 7:30 [flight] last night still hasn't left," she said.

"Is there still a Secretary of Transportation?" she continued. "Can't remember what's left."
