The hottest prospect in the Kansas City Royals organization was promoted to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Jac Caglianone is slated to make his Storm Chaser debut Tuesday, when Omaha opens a series at Salt Lake City.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Caglianone is making a rapid ascent through the minor league system.
A two-way player during his collegiate days at Florida, Caglianone was sixth overall pick in last July's MLB draft after going 7 for 12 with two home runs, four RBIs, four runs and six walks in the 2024 College World Series.
Caglianone has only been a position player since turning pro. He played late last summer at Quad Cities, the Royals' Class-A affiliate, where he hit two homers and drove in 14 runs in 29 games.
But after starting this season at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, Caglianone has blistered Texas League pitching. He is batting .322 with nine homers and 43 RBIs in 38 games.
Caglianone was a first baseman and pitcher at Florida, where he set the program record for career homers (75). He also played some outfield in Double-A.
The 22-year-old is the No. 10 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
Royals stop Cards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Drew Waters led off the seventh inning with a pinch-hit triple, Maikel Garcia drove him in with a single and the Kansas City Royals snapped a four-game skid and avoided a series sweep with a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
With the game tied 1-1, Waters batted for Dairon Blanco and tripled to right field on the first pitch from reliever Chris Roycroft (1-3). Garcia hit Roycroft's second pitch to right to score Waters with the go-ahead run.
Lucas Erceg (1-0) got five outs for the win and Carlos Estévez pitched the ninth and worked around a double by Brendan Donovan for his 13th save in 15 opportunities.
Kansas City's Michael Wacha started against his former team and allowed one run and eight hits in five innings with six strikeouts and no walks. The Royals have scored two runs or less with Wacha on the mound in nine of his 10 starts.
Alec Burleson put the Cardinals up 1-0 in the fourth with his fourth homer of the season.
The Royals tied it against Matthew Liberatore when Hunter Renfroe led off the bottom half of the fourth with a double and scored on a two-out double by Blanco in his first game of the season.
St. Louis had won three straight and 12 of 13. The Cards are still 5027 all time at Kaufmann Stadium.
