JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan and other city officials are set to hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon as the state prepares for the impact of Hurricane Milton.

Deegan has said previously Duval County is expected to see widespread power outages and flooding starting late Wednesday night and into Thursday.

In preparation for Milton, JEA has lined up more than 300 contractors, including lineworkers and tree trimmers.
JEA will have crews working Wednesday night until it is no longer safe and will resume work on Thursday once conditions allow.
Water and wastewater systems may be affected due to power outages and rainfall, JEA said, and it will be monitoring constantly and deploying portable assets if necessary (pumps, generators).
