"I thought, well, it's a chance to help out the community and I'm familiar with the people down here at KC Bier Company."KC Bier Company partnered with the Community Blood Center, which has reported critical shortages. James Arcano, with KC Bier Company, said the brewery quickly agreed to hold the drive after learning about the need."Community Blood Center's blood levels have dropped lower two days than what they need to support the community, so it's really important to get out and donate blood when you can," Arcano said.The brewery set a goal of 25 donors but surpassed expectations, with more than 40 people walking in to give. Arcano said the company views the event space, called the Club House, as a place for community support."The most difficult part about donating blood is about setting aside the time for it," Arcano said.This is the second blood drive hosted by KC Bier Company. The first, held in February, drew 20 donors. Each donation, organizers said, has the potential to save up to three lives.
