Muzaffargarh - The Punjab Food Authority has released the performance report for September concerning DG Khan and Bahawalpur Divisions. According to the report, food safety teams inspected 16,811 food points across both divisions. As a result of serious violations of food safety laws, 43 cases were registered against unit owners and 13 individuals were arrested. The authority also ordered the closure of 87 food production units until improvements were made. During the operations, teams disposed of over 43,000 liters of adulterated milk, 7,459 kilograms of dead meat, 1,892 liters of rancid oil, and 1,106 kilograms of adulterated spices. According to Focal Person Yasir Arafat, on the special instructions of Director General Punjab Food Authority Muhammad Asim Javed, Additional Director South Punjab Shehzad Khan Magasi has been leading a series of consecutive operations against elements involved in food adulteration. In DG Khan and Bahawalpur Divisions, 1,327 food units were fined over Rs. 1.881 billion for poor arrangements, while 7,965 food business operators were issued improvement notices. Furthermore, 316 new food licenses were applied for during this period. Speaking on the occasion, DG Punjab Food Authority Muhammad Asim Javed said that food safety teams are committed to ensuring the supply of adulteration-free food to the public. He further added that all available resources are being utilized to guarantee the provision of safe and healthy food to the people.
