People who receive benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC may want to check the October dates for their payments. Some 20 million people across the UK regularly get payments from the Government. Fortunately, there are no bank holidays in October, ensuring all benefit payments will be made as usual, reports the Mirror.

Another change to note is that the clocks will be set back by one hour on Sunday, October 26. Many families begin to switch on their heating in October, often turning it on after the clocks go back.

The day your state pension is paid depends on the last two digits of your National Insurance number - you can see which days correlate to which day of the week below. The state pension is normally paid every four weeks.
