Recent health inspections in some Farmington Hills restaurants revealed cross-contamination, mold and more between May and August of this year, according to Oakland County Health Department inspection reports.
Many of the violations have been corrected. The presence of violations in a past inspection does not necessarily mean the establishment has the same violations today.

During a routine inspection on May 7, an inspector noted several problems at Desi Licious Indian Cuisine.
-- Measured 0ppm chlorine sanitizer at the dish machine per test strips. -- Can opener blade soiled with food debris and last used days ago per the person in charge. -- No paper towel available at the handwashing sink in the rear prep area. -- Many ants observed along the wall behind the grinder/mixing equipment. Ants observed getting into food equipment (mixer bowl). Per the person in charge, the facility does not work with a licensed pest control operator. -- Observed the following food contact surfaces soiled with food debris and stored as clean: 1) Large grinding equipment. 2) Large mixing equipment. 3) Knives on the magnetic strip in the rear prep area. 4) Metal pans in the center clean equipment rack. -- Soiled dishes stored on the floor in the warewashing area. -- Make line ventilation hood filters are soiled with buildup. -- Personal cell phones stored on food prep tables throughout. -- 1) Raw chicken thawing in standing water 80F in the food prep sink. Chicken measured at 29F. 2) Raw goat thawing in a container at room temperature in the rear prep area. Goat measured at 38F. -- Floor under equipment on the make line heavily soiled with grease/food debris. -- This food establishment has changed ownership and does not have a Certified Manager with a current, valid certificate. -- Food employees working with food without hair restraints.
Antonio's Cucina Italiana, 37646 W. 12 Mile
During a routine inspection on August 8, an inspector noted several problems at Antonio's Cucina Italiana.
-- 1) Container of raw chicken stored on a crate by the 3-compartment measured 58F. Per the employee, it was placed there 3 hours ago to be thawed. 2) The following foods that require time or temperature control for safety (TCS) measured above 41F for an unknown amount of time: fettuccini (45F), linguini (45F) inside the 2-door cooler in cookline. The ambient air of the cooler measured 44F. -- Observed an unlabeled spray bottle stored in the warewashing area. The spray bottle contained bleach. -- 1) Observed employee rinsing cooking equipment (Ladle) in the handsink in cookline. 2) Observed employee filling (mop wringer) out of the handsink in the warewashing area. -- Container of raw chicken being thawed at room temperature on a crate by the 3-compartment. Per the employee, it was placed there 3 hours ago. The chicken measured 58F. -- Flies tape stored on shelves in dry storage with and above customer foods. -- Observed fruit flies in the dry storage area. The facility was last serviced by Orkin on July 28, 2025. -- The 2-door cooler in cookline was unable to maintain foods that require time or temperature control for safety (TCS) at 41F or below.
Benihana, 21150 Haggerty Rd.
During a routine inspection on August 7, an inspector noted several problems at Benihana. -- 1) Raw shrimp observed thawing in 75 F running water for less than 1 hour per operator at 70 F - 74 F. 2) Facility made whipped garlic butter, whipped cream, and cut cabbage at 59 F for unknown period of time located inside 2-door upright cooler. -- Possible cross contamination for following: 1) Sheet tray of raw steaks stored on top of teriyaki sauce box in preparation area. 2) Sheet tray of raw salmon stored on shelf above ready to eat crab mix inside walk-in cooler. -- Insufficient air gap observed from drain line leading from ice bin between flood rim of floor drain. -- Raw shrimp observed thawing in 75 F running water for less than 1 hour per operator at 70 F - 74 F. -- 2 door upright cooler observed at 56 F located across from coke soda machine. -- 1) Clean food equipment observed stored exposed to splash of runoff water from thawing raw shrimp at preparation area. 2) Single service items stored on floor inside dry storage room.
Bheemas Xpress Indian Cuisine, 24305 Halsted Road
During a routine inspection on July 29, an inspector noted several problems at Bheemas Xpress Indian Cuisine. -- 1) Observed an employee wash their hands at the three-compartment sink with the spray arm. No soap or paper towel used. 2) Observed an employee wash their hands at the handwashing sink without using soap. -- 1) Raw chicken stored above ready-to-eat tomato sauces, fresh garlic, and sour cream in the walk-in cooler. 2) Raw chicken stored directly with ready to eat chicken in walk-in cooler.3) A large container of baby corn nested in a container of raw shrimp in toploading cooler in cookline. 4) Large box of unwashed produce stored on top of a container of ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler. -- The following foods that require time or temperature control for safety (TCS): tomato sauce (3) 47F, paneer (2) 45-49F, pikka sauce (1) 49F were cooked yesterday and measured above 41F in walk-in cooler. -- Observed an employee wash, rinse, and dip containers in a sanitize solution prior to storing them as clean. Minimum sanitizer contact time did not occur. -- Measured 0ppm chlorine sanitizer at the three-compartment sink per test strips. -- Observed an employee washing soiled dishes and continue to handle clean equipment without washing their hands between the task change. -- Measured the following food items between 45F-47F, stored for over four hours in the top-loading cooler nearest to the walk-in cooler: Raw shell eggs, cut cabbage, marsala sauce, cooked peas/carrots, three containers of biryani sauce, two boxes of cooked vegetable cutlets. The noted cooler is not maintaining potentially hazardous foods at 41F or below. -- No soap available at the handwashing sink. -- Ladle heavily soiled with food debris and stored as clean above the three-compartment sink. -- 1) Facility did not datemark any potentially hazardous foods that were cooked (or open at the facility including several containers of cooked chicken, paneer, lambs, and onion sauces. Several food items were cooked on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, according to the operator. 2) Chickoo shake made in house and stored in a glass cooler in the dining area were not datemarked. -- 1) Observed a strainer basket stored in the handwashing sink basin. 2) Observed an employee fill a container with water at the handwashing sink. -- Observed an employee wash their hands at the three-compartment sink with the spray arm. No soap or paper towel used. -- The following foods that require time or temperature control for safety (TCS): tomato sauce (3) 47F, paneer (2) 45-46F, pikka sauce (1) 49F. They were cooked yesterday and stacked covered in a deep container in walk-in cooler. They measured 45-49F. -- The person in charge was not the certified manager and is unable to effectively train employees in basic food safety knowledge regarding handwashing, warewashing, monitoring safe food temperatures, raw food storage, cooling and cooling methods, date marking, and in-use utensil storage requirements. -- Sanitizer solution soiled with food debris at the three-compartment sink. -- 1) Back door propped open.2) Self-closing mechanism in disrepair on the back door. The back door does not fully close on its own. -- Floor in the warewashing area in the kitchen is soiled. -- 1) Broken tiles observed in floor by the 3-compartment sink. 2) Hole in the wall by the walk-in cooler door. -- None of the employees handling exposed food was wearing hair restraints. -- Measured an ambient air temperature of 47F in the top portion of the top-loading cooler nearest to the walk-in cooler. The cooler is not maintaining potentially hazardous foods at 41F or below. -- Fruitflies observed in the kitchen, mostly in the dry storage area and the warewashing area. Facility was last serviced by Orkin 0n 7/19/2025. -- 1) Small plastic portion cup without a handle used as a scoop in a large plastic container of marinating raw chicken in a reach-in cooler on the make line. 2) In-use utensils stored in a container of standing water at 75F on the make line. -- Soiled dishes stored directly on the floor. -- 1) Observed container of sour cream store on the floor under the shelves in walk-in cooler. 2) Metallic pan of foods stored on the floor under the shelves in walk-in cooler. -- Observed employee with 1 bottle of water and one can of shake sitting on the prep table leaning on the cutting board where he was preparing customers' foods. -- Observed an employee conducting cleaning-in-place of the canning device. Employee used a container of clean water to wipe and stated they follow-up with a sanitizing solution. No soap/detergent used. -- Produce stored directly inside plastic thank you bags in the walk-in cooler.
Cafe Cortina, 30715 W 10 Mile Rd.
During a routine inspection on July 16, an inspector noted several problems at Cafe Cortina.
-- Container of roasted garlic and oil mixture measured at 85F on the counter of the make line. Per the person in charge, it has been stored there overnight. -- 1) Three containers of mozzarella with a manufacturer expiration date of 7/4/25 in the walk-in cooler. 2) Visibly spoiled container of strawberries in the walk-in cooler. -- 1) Pancetta with a facility prep date of 7/5 in a small reach-in cooler on the make line. 2) Facility made tiramisu with a prep date of 7/9 in the walk-in cooler. -- No chlorine test strips available. -- Incomplete consumer advisory on the menu. Menu includes a reminder statement but not a disclosure statement, and no asterisks are next to menu items served raw or undercooked. -- Facility vacuum packaged raw salmon in the walk-in freezer. Vacuum packaging bags were observed in a closet in the pasta-making area. Facility does not have an approved HACCP plan for reduced oxygen packaging. -- Deli slicer soiled with food debris and stored as clean. -- 1) Shellstock tags not dated with the last date of sale. 2) Shellstock tags not attached to containers of shellstock in the walk-in cooler. -- Boxes of produce stored on the floor under shelving in the walk-in cooler. -- Ventilation duct grate soiled with buildup above the two-door stand up cooler near the coffee brewers. -- Observed a large amount of small flies at the bar. Per invoice provided by the person in charge, the facility works with Terminex pest control who last serviced on 7/2/25.
Kola Restaurant and Lounge, 32523 Northwestern Hwy.
During a routine inspection on May 28, an inspector noted several problems at Kola Restaurant and Lounge.
-- Observed an employee chopping raw vegetables with bare hands. Vegetables are not intended to be cooked. During a routine inspection on June 20, an inspector noted several problems at Scramblers. -- Can of unapproved pesticide stored on chemical storage shelf next to dish machine, used occasionally to spray the drains. -- Observed employee handling soiled dishes, playing with his phone, the went to store clean dishes without washing hands. -- No paper towels at back prep line hand sink. -- Ice scoop stored in back prepline hand sink. -- 1) Drainline missing piece at back prep line hand sink.2) Back prep line hand sink drainline is leaking. -- In-use utensils stored in standing water between use on cookline. -- This facility has lost its certified manager. -- 1) At wait station personal drinks and food stored on counter by coffee station. 2) In walk-in cooler personal drink stored on shelf near food. 3) On cookline personal drink stored on shelf above prep table. -- Observed covering falling off the wall inside the walk-in cooler. -- Observed employee washing cooking sheet by washing with soap and rinsing, then stored it as clean at the shelves of clean dishes. -- Observed cornbeaf being thawed at room temperature in the 3-compartment sink. The noted food was still frozen. -- Rear door is propped open. -- 1) Vents in ceiling at wait station soiled with accumulation of dust. 2) Vents in ceiling at cookline soiled with accumulation of dust. 3) Floor near warewashing area soiled. 4) Standing water by the prep sink. 5) Back of the wall in walk-in cooler soiled with accumulation of food debris.
