Amir Hadziahmetovic has called on his Hull City side to capitalise on the momentum gained from last Saturday's 97th-minute equaliser at Swansea City when they face their toughest test of the season so far.
Egan's last-gasp volley earned the Tigers a deserved point in South Wales, ending a run of two straight defeats before the international break, and now face Southampton at the MKM Stadium looking for a first win in four outings.
Relegated from the top flight in the Spring after another disastrous Premier League campaign, the Saints haven't yet got their season going and are just a point above the Tigers in the fledgling table.
The 30-cap Bosnian international believes Sergej Jakirovic's side are worthy of more than the five points they've amassed from their first five games so far, and wants to take the energy from last weekend into the first of three home outings in the next four games.
"As I see in the league, most of the games are, let's say, fifty-fifty; there's not much of a favourite in the matches, so I think even for this game it's fifty-fifty," the midfielder told Hull Live. "We play at home with our fans, I think we have a good chance to take some points.
"I've actually watched all the games since the beginning, so I think we started really well with the first two games. The next two games we had a lot of injuries, a lot of missing players, and we had two defeats, and I think now we're again on a good, good step with the Swansea draw. I think from this we have to build on in the next games.
"It's always good to score in the last minute, it gives the team some extra energy, and I think we will start the game with this extra energy on Saturday.
"I feel we missed some points. When I look at the team we have, I think we deserve more points than we actually have. I really see a good squad. We have a lot of good players on the bench also, so I think there is good competition in the team, and I'm really looking forward to this season because I think it will be exciting."
Hadziahmetovic was forced to wait for his debut, having been primed to make it at Bristol City, but showed some encouraging signs in South Wales last week on his first outing in English football.
His wonderful sweeping pass to Ryan Giles was crucial in the build-up to Oli McBurnie's equalising goal, and it's likely he'll get a first home start against the Saints, something he's relishing.
"I'm really excited to play in front of the home crowd. I think it will be a good game," he explained. "I can't wait to really step on the pitch, and I hope we'll have a good game and hopefully win the game."
