Stands to brands will be on demand in Coldstream Sunday.
The first Coldstream Youth Business Fair will run Oct. 5 from 2-5 p.m. at Coldstream Station (Sun Country Cycle parking lot), featuring more than 20 young entrepreneurs.
The family friendly event is free, and open to the public.
Participants have created a product or service, developed a brand, built a marketing strategy, and will launch their businesses at this one-day marketplace. Each child is responsible for setup, sales, and customer interactions - gaining real-world experience as they step into the role of entrepreneur.
"We believe these kids don't have to wait until they're grown up to start shaping their futures - they're doing it right now," said Brooke Scott, organizer of the Coldstream Youth Business Fair. "Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and by encouraging young people to dream big and build something of their own, we're investing in stronger communities for tomorrow."
Prizes will be awarded in three age groups (7-9, 10-12, 13-15) for categories such as Highest Business Potential, Most Original/Creative Idea, and Most Professional Execution.
Judges include parent volunteers and local business leaders, with prizes generously donated by small businesses throughout Vernon and Coldstream.
This event is made possible through the support of local businesses and volunteers who believe principled entrepreneurs - whether well-known or unsung - are heroes and role models for the next generation. Entrepreneurs innovate, create jobs, and strengthen communities, and these young business owners are already stepping into that tradition.
