New River Valley First Responder Coalition conducting hurricane relief drive

The New River Valley First Responder Coalition is conducting a hurricane relief supply drive for affected areas in Southwest Virginia.

There is a need for the following items, according to a news release about the event: bottled water, canned goods, baby food and supplies (diapers, wipes, formula), blankets, toiletries and cleaning supplies.

Monetary donations or clothes are not being accepted at this time, according to the release.

The following places are acting as 24/7 drop-off locations:

· Blacksburg Police Department: 200 Clay St. SE, Blacksburg, 24060.

· Virginia Tech Police Department: 330 Sterrett Drive, Blacksburg, 24060.

· Montgomery County Sheriff's Office: 1 E. Main St, Christiansburg, 24073.

· Christiansburg Police Department: 10 E. Main St., Christiansburg, 24073.

Rescue squads and fire departments are accepting items Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

· Blacksburg Rescue Squad: 1300 Progress St., Blacksburg, 24060.

· Blacksburg Fire Department Station 1: 200 Progress St., Blacksburg, 24060.

· Christiansburg Fire Department: 110 Depot St W., Christiansburg, 24073.

The coalition will also be having pop-up collection sites throughout the week at random locations and events. Please monitor the Blacksburg Police, Christiansburg Police, and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office social media accounts for information, according to the release.
