FAIRFIELD -- The Rodriguez High School softball team dealt with a lot from Woodcreek's Maryn Macneil and her teammates Wednesday as the Lady Mustangs lost their Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoff opener, 10-0, in Roseville.
Macneil allowed just four hits from the circle and struck out six batters. She also homered and drove in four runs.
Woodcreek advances to the quarterfinals Friday with a game against Lodi, a 6-2 winner over Atwater. Rodriguez finished up the season 11-11. The Lady Mustangs really didn't expect to make the playoffs and were thrilled with the opportunity to participate.
Jasmyn White, Angel Boot, Skye Aguilar and Mia Aguilar had hits for Rodriguez. Boot drove in a run and hit a double.
Boot pitched 2.1 innings and allowed four hits, three earned runs and two walks. Amelia Morrison threw the other 1.2 innings and allowed four hits, seven earned runs, walked four and struck out one.
Woodcreek broke the game open with a seven-run second inning. The Timberwolves tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning before the game ended in five.
