Srinagar, Sept 22: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, on Monday called on the Chief Minister and discussed a host of developmental projects concerning his constituency, besides seeking relief for victims of the recent landslide in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, the MLA apprised the Chief Minister of pressing public issues. He stressed the need to expedite ongoing works in vital sectors such as roads, healthcare, drinking water supply, and education. Mehar Ali underlined that swift progress in these areas was crucial for addressing the immediate needs of the people of Kangan.
The MLA also raised the matter of the tragic Kullu-Manali landslide, in which several residents of Kangan constituency lost their lives. He urged the CM to sanction ex-gratia relief from his discretionary funds for the next of kin of the deceased victims.
"The victims were the sole breadwinners of their families, and timely assistance is essential to reduce the hardships of their dependents," the MLA said, appealing for prompt financial and humanitarian support.
The Chief Minister, after giving a patient hearing, assured that the demands and concerns raised by the MLA would be considered with "sympathy and seriousness".
