The shuttered Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School on Woodbourne Road in Levittown has been purchased by Pulte Homes, which plans to build 66 townhouses off the Middletown street.
The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that Pulte paid $4.1 million for the building on 14 acres in Lower Bucks County, which had been used as an adult daycare facility and a food pantry. The facility closed in July.
The builder will set the lower priced units in the upper $500,000s.

Bucks County has a "significant under-supply of reasonably priced housing," said Pulte Homes Northeast Corridor Division President John Evans, as reported in the Business Journal.
"Bucks County has always had a great location, great commuting corridor into Princeton, New Jersey and, obviously, into Philadelphia," Evans said. "So, it's always attractive, and I believe bringing something new to market at this price point will be a very compelling proposition for people."

Pulte, a national builder headquartered in Atlanta, purchased the land and the building from the CIBC Foundation, in which Delta Community Supports Inc. operated the adult daycare at 1700 Woodbourne Road.
The Middletown board of supervisors granted zoning approvals on the professionally zoned school property in 2023. That came after Westrum Development of Fort Washington, doing business as Woodbourne Ridge Associates, lost a zoning appeal to build 70 townhomes. The court ordered the township and developer to work out a stipulated settlement.
As part of the negotiations, the developer reduced the number of homes to 66, added more buffers around the property and designed a left-turn lane off Woodbourne Road into proposed development that can also serve the Cobalt Ridge section of Levittown which surrounds it. The left-turn lane is a safety measure the neighbors have long sought.

The Eisenhower project isn't the only major housing development set for Woodbourne Road.
A half-mile away, the shuttered Knights of Columbus building at 1492 Woodbourne Road, was sold and will be developed into 34 townhouses on eight acres by W.B. Homes of North Wales.
Six of those units will be sold to Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County and set aside as "attainable housing" for first-time homebuyers who qualify.
