The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hit rock-bottom in IPL 2025 as they were at the last position and performed poorly in the whole tournament. The Men in Yellow could only manage 4 wins out of 14 matches and missed the playoffs spot for two consecutive years.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was also ruled out mid-season due to injury following which MS Dhoni took over the captaincy charge but still the position of the team didn't improve. While Dhoni's future in IPL 2026 till remains unclear, the team will also be looking to release certain players and bring in new faces.
Here are some of the players likely to be released by CSK:
In IPL 2025, Conway faltered with 156 runs in 6 games with a strike rate of 127. He wasn't able to leave much impact and this might hinder his chances of getting retained by the franchise. Overall in his IPL career, he has scored 1080 runs with an average of 43.20 and a strike rate of 139.72, this includes 11 half-centuries.

Overall in his IPL career he has scored 413 runs with an average of 24.29 and a strike rate of 143.90, this also includes two fifties.
Rahul Tripathi has played 100 matches in the Indian Premier League, where he has scored 2291 runs with an average of 26.33 and a strike rate of 137.85, this includes 12 half-centuries. Despite having an incredible record, Tripathi failed to impress last season and only scored 55 runs in 5 matches for CSK.
With a lot of hope, CSK brought in Vijay Shankar but he completely disappointed last season as he only scored 118 runs in 6 matches with an average of 39.33.
