A UNIQUE artist has been chosen to host a prestigious event in her Knutsford home.
Jan Peters Harrison will be opening the doors of her studio as part of the 2025 Visual Art Association (VAA) International Art Trail, featuring 500 artists from all over the world.
The idea is to encourage people to come along and chat to artists about their work.
Jan's unique style reinvents reverse painting techniques with a modern twist.
Her technique maximises the impact of reflective light and modern creativity.
Self-taught artist Jan has always loved art but only took it up after she retired.
"I've always been doing it as a hobby," said Jan, who worked as a mathematician in the scientific industry.
"Now, I'm very much into art.
"I paint on the reverse of glass. The light strikes up and you see colours in a different way.
"If paintings face into the light, it creates an almost a mirror effect back into the room.
"I use spray paint like Banksy. I spray the back in metallic silver and gold."
Jan's contemporary pieces enhance all environments and interior design projects and are displayed with a clean, minimalistic presentation.
Using acrylics and metallic, acrylic glass and stainless steel, her work has been displayed in galleries art fairs and in the Mall Galleries in London.
Mum-of-two Jan grew up in the Caribbean and has always been inspired by colours.
"I've lived in lots of different places but Knutsford has become my home for the past 40 years," she said.
"I'm thrilled to be selected for this global event and welcome people to my studio.
"Art can often feel distance when it's only seen in galleries.
"This event is about connecting directly with the community, sharing ideas and showing how creativity happens in real spaces, which can often be hidden."
The pop-up exhibition will also feature work by figurative artist Tricia Harrison, who together with Jan, was a finalist in Artist of the Year 2024.
Tricia, from Bowdon, also came to art in retirement, after a career working in industry, designing textiles and ceramics.
Tricia said: "I like painting fruits, flowers, natural history and some portraiture.
"This is a unique opportunity to showcase our work in a more personal, intimate setting.
"We're excited to invite the local community to experience it."
Jan's studio and exhibition at 6 Balmoral Close WA16 8LN and will be open on October 12, 18, 19, 26 and November 2, from 2pm to 6pm.
