Strictly Come Dancing's Thomas Skinner has candidly discussed the challenges of his disability, confessing that he often leans on his wife for assistance.
After gaining recognition as a contestant on The Apprentice in 2019, he has since become a familiar face on TV, featuring in shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats and Celebrity MasterChef.
Earlier this year, it was announced that he would be one of the celebrities gracing the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor.
During a conversation on The Edge podcast in 2023, the former Apprentice star opened up about his dyslexia and the significant impact it has on his everyday life.
He told the host: "I'm dyslexic, so anyone who knows me knows I'll get a parking ticket and I can't fill out the form. It's embarrassing."
He also revealed how he depends on his wife for routine writing tasks: "You ask me to fill out a form online, and I can't do it. Every time I try to, I have to ask my wife -- she has to do it. I cannot fill out forms. I don't know what it is -- mental blank, I get a panic attack, and I can't do them."
The NHS states that approximately one in 10 people have some level of dyslexia, which can manifest at any age.
They explain: "Dyslexia is a lifelong problem that can present challenges on a daily basis, but support is available to improve reading and writing skills and help those with the problem be successful at school and work."
Away from his family life, Tom has been putting his dancing abilities to the test on Strictly Come Dancing alongside Amy Dowden.
Making his debut on the dance floor last week, the pair performed the paso doble but received a less-than-enthusiastic reaction from the judges, securing just 12 points, including a score of two from Craig Revel Horwood.
It proved another deflating week for the duo, as they only managed a minor improvement on their earlier score, with the four judges giving them 13 points for their salsa to Dizzee Rascal's Bonkers.
In his characteristic forthright manner, Craig Revel Horwood offered a scathing verdict of Tom's routine: "It looked like you were competing in a weightlifting competition in Skegness. It lacked any hip action or fluidity, but you have proved you have the strength of an ox."
As week two draws to a close, tonight's show will see the first couple eliminated from the competition.
