This weekend, the box office was a tale of two stars, each making waves in very different ways: pop sensation Taylor Swift and action icon Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.Though it seemed like a heavyweight clash, Swift's fanbase once again took center stage, propelling her film The Official Release Party of a Show Girl to a No. 1 debut with $33 million in North America, according to Sunday's Comscore estimates. Released by AMC Theatres with just two weeks' notice and minimal promotion, the film offered fans an 89-minute blend of music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and clean lyric visuals, complementing Swift's 12th studio album.Playing in all 540 AMC locations across the U.S. over a three-day run ending Sunday, the film also screened internationally in Mexico, Canada, and Europe. This success follows nearly two years after Swift's The Eras Tour concert film opened to a staggering $96 million, extending her streak of box office dominance. In contrast, Johnson's latest, the A24 drama The Smashing Machine -- starring alongside Emily Blunt -- opened more modestly in third place with $6 million. It lagged behind Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, which earned $11.1 million and has now racked up $107 million worldwide.
