A robin has died after becoming caught in an illegal glue trap.
Staff at the RSPCA East Winch centre attempted to save the small bird, but it succumbed to its injuries and passed away.
It had become attached to a glue trap, which have been illegal for public use for three years under the Glue Traps Offences Act 2022.
"We are heartbroken," staff at the East Winch centre said.
"Please, these traps should not be used."
A licensing scheme was put in place to allow licensed professional pest controllers to use them under strict circumstances for public health and safety, but this does not apply to the wider public.
The ban aimed to reduce the suffering of animals they target, such as rodents, as well as non-target animals like the robin brought into the centre.
