OCEAN CITY, N.J. - A mainstay of the New Jersey field hockey scene, Rutgers field hockey head coach will be honored by her high school this winter. Civico will be inducted into the Ocean City High School Hall of Fame, with the ceremony to be held on Saturday, December 7.
Civico graduated from Ocean City High School in 2001, where she played under head coach Trish LeFevre. While in high school, she was a two-time all-state selection, member of the United States Field Hockey Association High Performance Mid-Atlantic team and a high school All-American.
During her time playing with the Red Raiders, she won three state titles, making the state championship game all four years and won four straight Cape-Atlantic League American Conference titles. She was also named to the Raider's All-Century team. As a senior at OCHS, Long led the team with 23 goals.
Following her graduation from high school, Civico went on to a collegiate playing career at Boston University and Maryland. She won a national championship in 2005 as a member of the Terps.
Civico has been a Division I coach since starting her career as an assistant at Vermont in 2006. In 2012, she took the helm of the Rutgers' program, which she has led to great heights. Currently in her 13 season as the Scarlet Knights head coach, she has won over 130 games and led the program to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2021 Big Ten Tournament title.
