As Georgia's primary election approaches, voters will soon narrow the field of candidates on both Democratic and Republican ballots.
Among the ten candidates running is Attorney General Chris Carr, who previously served as Commissioner for the Commission of Economic Development. Carr emphasized his commitment to maintaining Georgia's reputation as a top state for work and living.
"I think Georgia is the model for the nation when it comes to jobs and safety," Carr said. "Having been in economic development, created 84,000 jobs working with the private sector bringing billions of dollars of investment, I saw that really does transform families and communities in our state."
With the election drawing nearer, Carr is focused on Georgia's future and potential improvements.
"How do we invest more when we have the ports of Savannah and Brunswick, you have Hartsfield, you have this road and rail network?" Carr asked. "How do we invest so we can continue to provide those goods and services to people in our state? Manufacturing is a big issue, obviously workplace we've got a great university system but how do we go into K-12 systems so students know what the jobs of the future are?"
Carr's key priorities include agriculture, mental health, and ensuring the safety of Georgians.
With nearly a decade of experience as Georgia's Attorney General, Carr believes he is well-prepared to be the next governor.
"The primary duty of Governor is to keep people safe and we've been fighting human trafficking, gangs, and opioids, and organized retail theft," he said. "I don't care where you live in this state. Where you're from, what's your race, your religion, your gender, your sexual orientation. You deserve to be safe in the state of Georgia."
