CALUM MCINTYRE is hoping improved performances result in further triumphs for Chester down the line.
While displays are on the up for the Blues, results haven't been matching these in the main, although a three-point haul in tomorrow's National League North encounter at home to Merthyr Town wouldn't go amiss.
Boss McIntyre has been praising the performances of his players in recent weeks and he told Chester FC TV: "Winning needs to be the norm and the ability to string back-to-back wins."
That will be the primary aim following on from last week's thumping 5-1 triumph at the Deva Stadium against Curzon Ashton in the FA Cup.
Offrande Zanzala's first goal for the club, Dylan Mottley-Henry, Pat Jones, substitute Connor Woods and an own goal set up a fourth qualifying round trip to National League Morecambe later this month.
Thoughts of that tie are now placed on the back-burner, though, with the Blues seeking their third league win of the season against a Merthyr side that's just outside the play-off positions.
McIntyre said: "The reality is it's the results and I hope that I can stand... and say the same thing around we said we were going to improve, we've now put back-to-back wins together.
"At some point, the clean sheet will come, because I thought it was an outstanding defensive performance (against Curzon Ashton) that they'll be disappointed to not have the clean sheet to show for it.
"But, yeah, we'll enjoy the fact that once again we've progressed in the FA Cup. Earned some money for the football club.
"Hope we get the opportunity to see it and improve the group and keep adding."
Leaders South Shields have the last remaining unbeaten record and this will be tested at home to third-placed Chorley.
