PERRYSBURG, Perrysburg Township -- A First Solar employee has died after being injured at the company's manufacturing facility in Perrysburg Township.
An "incident" at the facility resulted in the employee's death, First Solar confirmed to WTOL 11 in a statement Monday afternoon. The company did not provide any further details regarding the incident, which happened at First Solar's manufacturing facility on Cedar Park Boulevard. The employee has not yet been identified.
"Out of respect for those affected and to ensure the integrity of any ongoing investigations, we are not sharing further details at this time," First Solar said in its statement. "We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and have initiated our internal review processes."
Lucas County Coroner Dr. Thomas Blomquist said that his office will be conducting an autopsy Tuesday and will have more information at that time.
First Solar's Perrysburg Township manufacturing facility is one of three in Ohio. The company, founded in 1999, describes itself as being one of the world's largest manufacturers of photovoltaic solar technology.
