Dimensity 9400 CPU Cluster, Along With ARM Immortalis-925 GPU Core And Frequency Details Leaked Before MediaTek's Imminent Announcement

MediaTek is expected to officially announce the Dimensity 9400 on October 9, so just a couple of days remain for the grand unveiling. While we have witnessed the chipset's capabilities in the form of benchmark leaks, the CPU cluster and GPU details still eluded us until today, when a tipster provided a decent amount of information. Naturally, there will be some differences between the upcoming SoC and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, so let us get right into it.

Instead of the Cortex-X4, the Dimensity 9400 will rely on one Cortex-X925 super-core, with tipster Digital Chat Station commenting on Weibo below that the chipset will have a clock speed of 3.626GHz. The remaining CPU cluster will be made up of three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores, totaling an 8-core configuration. The tipster may be slightly incorrect in the information provided because ARM recently announced its newest Cortex-A725 design, so MediaTek may likely take advantage of a more advanced CPU core.

The Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 (or Cortex-A725) will operate at the same speeds as the cores running in the Dimensity 9300 that launched last year. This means that we should be looking at 2.85GHz for the Cortex-X4 and 2.00GHz for the less powerful cores. As for the GPU, we have learned that the Dimensity 9400 will feature an ARM Immortalis-G925 graphics processor with 12 cores and a clock speed of 1,612MHz. Just recently, it was reported that the Dimensity 9400 became the first SoC to record a score of 3 million in AnTuTu, with 44 percent of the total contributed by the Immortalis-G925 GPU.

Additionally, it was revealed that MediaTek's upcoming flagship silicon marginally beats Apple's M4 in GFXBench's Aztec Ruins 1440p while obtaining a solid lead against the A18 Pro. Before readers get excited, they should note that GFXBench gives performance preference to Android chipsets over Apple's A-series and M-series for some reason. A major difference between the Dimensity 9400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was that Qualcomm's upcoming SoC has been tested at a frequency of 4.47GHz in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

These differences might not translate into a significant performance delta, but it will still be an interesting comparison when the first wave of benchmarks comes through in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
