Pakistani actress and television host Dua Malik has revealed that she once encountered a casting couch situation during her career, involving a well-known figure in Pakistan.
Speaking openly during a recent podcast, Dua Malik shared insights about her personal life and experiences in the entertainment industry. She stated that one of the reasons she moved to the United States was to keep her children away from the showbiz world, as she does not want them to be part of the industry.
She noted that although she never taught her daughter to play the piano, the child learned on her own -- a realization that made Dua understand that if children are passionate about something, they find a way to pursue it themselves.
Discussing the issue of the casting couch, Dua Malik initially said that she had never thought about it and rarely faced such situations. She emphasized that every individual has their own personality -- while some girls in the industry are very beautiful, they may lack the inner strength to say "no." However, she and her sister, actress Humaima Malik, are very different in that regard. According to her, whenever someone approached them with ill intentions, they responded firmly and directly.
Dua admitted that while she was somewhat timid in nature, her sister Humaima was always brave, which is why neither of them frequently encountered such inappropriate situations.
However, Dua later revealed that she did face a casting couch situation once, and it severely impacted her career. She refrained from disclosing further details, saying she could never reveal the identity of the person involved because he is a very prominent and influential personality in Pakistan.
She added that while she currently resides in the U.S., her family is still in Pakistan, and she does not want them to suffer any consequences because of her revelations.
