JoJo Siwa has clarified her sexuality again, pointing out that being in a heterosexual relationship with Chris Hughes while identifying as queer 'does not mean I'm straight.'

Dance Moms star and raspy pop bad girl JoJo Siwa made a lot of people look at their 2025 bingo cards in disbelief when she exited the Celebrity Big Brother UK house earlier this year not with the crown, but with a boyfriend, despite having publicly identified as a lesbian for years prior.

During her time in the House, Siwa and Love Island favourite Chris Hughes were often seen cuddling each other and sharing intimate moments, despite Siwa being in a relationship with non-binary influencer Kath Ebbs at the time. Siwa and Hughes are now together, after being spotted together on numerous occasions following the show's end.

Speaking on SiriusXM's Smith Sisters Live show (21 September), Siwa clarified her sexuality, and pointed out that being in a relationship with a man does not make her any less queer.

"Just because I'm in a hetero[sexual] relationship does not mean I'm straight. And okay, just say all of a sudden I said 'yeah, I'm straight'. Awesome."

The "Karma" singer continued: "I'm not straight."

"I mean, I'm in love with a man... But my past doesn't get to be discredited though because of that."

Continuing on the programme, Siwa gushed over Hughes, but made sure not to discredit her previous relationships with women, saying: "The first time I ever fell in love with somebody was with a woman... I've obviously been in a relationship with other women and non-binary person and now I'm with a man."

Discussing her relationship with the former Love Island star, she said: "I've never experienced a love like his." She added: "The best thing that's ever happened to me is falling in love with him."

Hughes' father, Paul, recently told the Daily Mail that the pair could tie the knot by the end of the year.

"It wouldn't surprise us if they got married before Christmas," he said. "We've got St Mary's Church [in Temple Guiting, Gloucestershire] just over the lane from us which would be perfect."

Siwa has previously discussed "bullying" from the LGBTQ+ community surrounding her relationship with Hughes and her sexuality. Though she clarified that she was "not a lesbian", she has always identified as queer since being in a relationship with Hughes.

In June this year, she opened up about feeling a "pressure" to identify as such, saying she "boxed herself in".
