'Can't seem to stop': Harry's 'naive' move after reunion with King Charles

Prince Harry has been labelled "naive" after sharing his thoughts following his recent reunion with his father King Charles in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, met with Charles, 76, in person for the first time in more than a year earlier this month.

Father and son met for tea for a reported 55 minutes in what has been labelled an important first step in repairing Harry's relationship with is family.

Following the private tea, the Duke of Sussex then attended a reception for Invictus Games supporters in London. The next event will take place in Birmingham in the UK in 2027.

Harry was asked about his father at the reception and simply said: "Yes he's great, thank you."

Following his time in London, Harry travelled to the Ukraine to meet with wounded soldiers ahead of his next Invictus Games scheduled for Birmingham in 2027.

During his time in the capital of Kyiv, Harry was asked about the sensitive topic of his family, saying his "conscious is clear".

He said his tell-all biography Spare, released in January 2023, was simply a "series of corrections to stories already out there" and said he didn't think he had "aired my dirty laundry in public".

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes Harry "better to stay zipped about his meeting with his father".

She told the Mirror: "His first comment was that his dad was 'great'. And I don't think the Palace would have any problem with that. But to have been drawn into commenting on whether he had any regrets about his book was naive.

"He just can't seem to stop himself from doubling down on his grievances. He was clearly responding to a specific question about whether he'd aired his 'dirty laundry' in public.

"He should simply have said he had no comment, and re-directed the focus of the interview to his visit to Ukraine."

The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex resigned as senior working royals in 2020, relocating to the US where they quickly sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, sharing their grievances with the royal family.

They made claims of racism and Meghan alleged her pleas for mental health support by the royals were refused.

Queen Elizabeth famously said "recollections may vary" in a statement released following the airing of the Oprah interview.

The couple also appeared in a Netflix series called Harry & Meghan, once again sharing intimate details of their time with the royals.

Harry became estranged from his family, including King Charles who has been battling cancer since early 2024, and most notably, his brother Prince William.

The Duke of Sussex spoke of his desire to heal his relationships with his family during a BBC interview in May.

"Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book," he admitted.

"Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But, you know ... I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore."
