Cheese and onion flavoured crisps have been recalled due to a "possible health risk". The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced that One Stop Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps contain milk, which is not declared on the packaging.
This could potentially cause reactions in individuals with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents. The FSA issued a notice stating: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instea,d return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
The recall pertains to 150g packs with best before dates of 17th, 18th, and 23rd February 2026, reports the Express.
Approximately one in 50 infants are allergic to cow's milk, although most outgrow this condition during childhood. It is estimated that up to one in 10 adults suffer from lactose intolerance, meaning they cannot digest the sugar found in dairy products,
Symptoms of a milk allergy can include hives, swelling, vomiting, and breathing difficulties, typically occurring within minutes of consumption. Allergies can often be managed with antihistamine medication and by avoiding dairy products.
In severe cases, exposure to milk can lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis.
The notice further stated: "One Stop is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers."
