Area internet company seeks to block funding for ACE Fiber's broadband service here

New Albany aldermen were told this past week that MaxxSouth Broadband is seeking an injunction that would prevent the state broadband internet office from awarding $2 million that would help make available high-speed internet for all New Albany electric customers.

The BEAM office (Office of Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi) was established to funnel funds to provide high-speed internet to underserved areas of the state and made a determination to award grants to three internet providers including ACE Fiber to provide high-speed accessibility to parts North Haven, Blue Springs, Hickory Flat, and Yalobusha and Marshall counties.
