A plan has been submitted to install a new self-service laundry kiosk at a supermarket in Stourport.
The application, which was submitted by Tesco Stores Ltd and Johnsons to Wyre Forest District Council, would see a Johnson's Laundry Kiosk at the Tesco superstore site on Severn Road.
The applicants said: "The desire to provide a Johnson's Laundry Kiosk at the Tesco site is part of Johnson's current business plan to increase their portfolio nationwide. There are currently several such kiosks in similar locations across the UK.
"Tesco have evaluated those stores which have a margin within the car park to afford the kiosk two car parking spaces or the equivalent paved area.
"Detailed consent is sought for the installation of a Self Service Laundry Kiosk to be situated on an area of existing hardstanding currently in use as a part of the existing car park, adjacent to the EV Charging bays and in close proximity to a water supply."
The plan said the look of the kiosk has been designed to retain the recognised Johnsons Specialist Cleaning branding whilst blending with the architectural vernacular of the Tesco store.
The fascia of the kiosk is to be Johnson's Specialists Cleaning branded, while essential information on the operating instructions is to be displayed on the kiosk.
The design and construction of the kiosk have taken into account the Environment Agency's guidance on flood resilience and resistance.
The applicants said: "We believe that the site has adequate capacity for this proposal, even at the busiest time of the year.
"Johnsons and Tesco share many of the core brand principles and provide their customers the level of service that means that they chose to return.
"The Johnsons Specialists Cleaning Laundry Kiosk will offer customers the convenience of providing a self-service laundry service at their local superstore."
