Slated to star opposite of Charlie Cox in Season 2, Ritter's announcement was made in Disney's upfront presentation to advertisers earlier this week. She said, "It's so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU. I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"
She first starred as Jessica Jones back in 2015 on Netflix as one of five Marvel shows hitting the streamer at the time. The series Jessica Jones aired for three seasons with the final on Netflix in 2019. It was canceled amongst other Marvel-Netflix shows when Disney initiated plans to air MCU projects on Disney+. It remains to be seen if Disney will pick up the series for Jessica Jones down the line.
