Looking for Hulu Movies? See What's Arriving in September 2025

Although the streaming platform Hulu is set to merge with Disney+ sometime in 2026, it currently remains one of the best platforms for adding new titles every month and continues to feature original content. September is no exception, with Hulu adding over 60 new titles and two new originals, including a look at the origins of one of the most popular modern-day dating apps and Nicolas Cage doing what he does best in delivering an aptly over-the-top and electric performance.

Below you will find a complete list of all the titles coming to Hulu in September 2025, but here are some films you will want to add to your watch list.

'Swiped' (2025) - Hulu Original Available September 19

Swiped follows the life of Whitney Wolfe Herd, played by Lily James, the real-life tech entrepreneur who helped shape the modern dating scene. Her first major success as co-creator of Tinder led her to leave the company due to the toxic and sexist environment it fostered. In response, she went on to make Bumble. This move would make her the youngest self-made female billionaire. Swiped offers a cinematic portrayal of Herd, exploring resilience and innovation in the male-dominated tech industry.

Building off of early buzz and awards at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), Swiped finally makes its way to streaming as a Hulu Original. Offering a tale of empowerment and backed by a highly praised performance from Lily James, the film provides a thoughtful reflection on the tech industry, centered around a pivotal figure who challenged norms to create the popular Bumble platform. The film is co-written and directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, whose last feature film, Unpregnant, in 2020, garnered critical praise. Swiped is streaming on Sept. 19.

'The Man in My Basement' (2025) - Hulu Original Available September 25

Charles Blakey (played by Corey Hawkins) faces the looming foreclosure of his family home in New York after his parents' deaths leave him unable to keep up with the payments. A seemingly hopeless situation is transformed by the arrival of a peculiar businessman, Anniston Bennet (Willem Dafoe), who offers him a solution: to rent his basement for the summer, clearing all debts owed. Yet the arrangement soon reopens generational wounds and introduces a supernatural threat brought on by the stranger in the basement.

The Man in My Basement has been garnering hype due to the author of the hit book of the same name, Walter Mosley, working as a co-writer on the release. The film looks to draw on the real-life trauma of the Rwandan Genocide, integrating it into a supernatural tale, while touching on subjects like colonialism, the nature of evil, and racial trauma. With early festival buzz, its blend of social issues and horror, and the star power of Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafoe, The Man in My Basement is one of September 2025's most anticipated titles. The Man in My Basement is streaming on September 25.

Nicolas Cage plays a man known as the Surfer, a father who returns to his beloved childhood beach with his teenage son to share his passion for surfing, while also aiming to buy back his father's nearby home. Yet his goals of finding solace and reconnecting with the past are soon disrupted by a local surf gang, the Bay Boys, who begin to harass him to keep him away from the beaches. A series of threats, gaslighting, thefts, and confrontations lead Cage's surfer to lose his grip on reality.

In Julian Roman's review for MovieWeb, he touted the performance of Nicolas Cage, stating, "Cage continues to thrive in complex and layered portrayals. The Surfer's descent into madness is gripping." Indeed, for fans of Nicolas Cage, The Surfer offers up one of his best roles to date. Of course, there is more here than just Cage delivering, as the movie offers a poignant reflection on modern toxicity, all wrapped up in the bundle of an engaging horror movie with a focus on psychological terror.
