Jim Huiskamp has launched a website and Facebook page to campaign for Davenport mayor.

Huiskamp led Blackhawk Bank & Trust as president and CEO from 2014 until he stepped away from his 20-year banking career in 2024.

Before his time in banking, Huiskamp worked for 10 years as a teacher and coach in the Keokuk Community School District. He taught special education students, history, geography and American history and coached baseball, basketball and volleyball.

Huiskamp was born in Keokuk and his family moved to Rock Island when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Alleman High School and earned degrees in philosophy and sociology from Regis University in Denver and graduate degrees in education and then banking from Western Illinois University and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He has lived in Davenport for the past 21 years.
