Bucks Free Press Nostalgia: More pictures requiring further information

The picture showing the 'shark' embedded in the roof of a house. Many of you emailed to say that this was not in Marlow but in Headington near Oxford and has been a local landmark for ages. I wonder what it was doing in Michael's collection!

The photo taken by Malcolm McIntyre-Ure in about 1965 where he had written on the back of the print 'these lads asked me to take their photo'.

These 'lads' are Peter Cole, Barry Turner (at the back), Richard Bradley, Ernie Beaver ,Greg Winning and Tony Gryckiewicz, and was probably taken outside the Natwest Bank in the High Street. Would anyone of them like to make contact, if so please email [email protected].

Here are four more Marlow photographs, these are all on the SWOP website www.swop.org.uk, for which we are seeking further information. I have included the SWOP reference numbers in the captions below, so if you do have information, you can either email me or go to the website and on the Home Page enter the number to bring up the image, then hit the 'Comments' button.

TOP: These men wearing white trousers and tee shirts, who had various items of sports equipment assembled in front of them, are obviously sportsmen. The date was 1906 but that is all that is known.

SECOND ROW, LEFT: This is Roger Hillsdon working in a forge with a hammer and anvil to form a horseshoe in March 1979. The forge was somewhere in Marlow, but where?

SECOND ROW, RIGHT: The exact location of this snowy urban scene, showing a road closure and diversion, is unknown, but the date was February 1958.

LEFT: Here we see participants assembling for a Carnival procession in Marlow, probably in the early 1960s.

ABOVE: The lads mentioned in the McIntyre-Ure photo.
