Vigil held in honor of 17-year-old killed in motorcycle crash in American Fork Canyon

OREM, Utah (KUTV) -- Family, friends, and community members gathered at 17-year-old Noah Scribner's childhood home in Orem to remember the teen.

Scribner was killed in a motorcycle crash on Monday. (link to old story) He was just days away from graduating at Timpanogos High School and going on a mission for his church.

"It's a lot of ups and downs right now still it's been three days it's tough," explained Scribner's uncle, Jeff Wilks.

"He will never get to do all the things he so easily could've achieved through his hard work and through the type of person that he is and that is very hard to swallow," explained Natalie Schultz, his ballroom dance teacher.

Those that gathered on Thursday night, sung, shared stories about Noah and lit candles in his memory just outside their family home. Many writing out their memories on gifts for the family.

A beloved ballroom dancer, student athlete, son, brother, uncle and friend to many will not soon be forgotten by those who knew him best.

"He lit up a room when he came into it and everyone felt that way. We had no idea how much," explained Wilks, Scribner's uncle told KUTV on Thursday. "People would feel like he was their best friend and that's kind of to me the legacy of him he just made people feel comfortable no matter where he was or what he was doing."

The high school senior was looking forward to going on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Honduras after graduation. Then he wanted to come back and join BYU's Ballroom Dance Team.

Friends and family said he made everyone feel loved. For the last three days many have come by to offer support and love to Scribner's family, with hundreds donating to a GoFundMe page to pay for his funeral.

"He was one of the most talented dancers I've ever worked with," explained Schultz, his ballroom dance teacher. "I think they will remember him as a very talented dance, as very good friend who will always be there."

The family hopes to establish a scholarship in his name to continue Noah's legacy.
