Al Roker and Deborah Roberts celebrated a parental milestone this weekend: the TODAY weatherman and his wife cheered as their youngest child, Nick Roker, graduated from college.
"Three years ago, we dropped him off as a first-year college student. Today @nickroker155 has his #associatesdegree in #communications and we could not be prouder of how hard he has worked and is determined to get his #bachelorsdegree," wrote Al on Instagram along with several photos from Nick's first days at college as well as photos and a video of his recent graduation.
Al previously shared during a 2019 TODAY segment that Nick has some "special needs." He and Deborah have been both vocal advocates for their son.
Nick has "met a lot of challenges," Al said, and being involved in the family's church has been Nick's "mission."
Al has documented Nick's college process from the start. In December 2021, he shared an Instagram video of the moment Nick learned he had been accepted into not one, but two, colleges.
"I'm not even kidding," Nick replied, with his dad cheering, "Way to go, bud. Congratulations!" The family celebrated with high-fives and hugs.
He then documented Nick's first day on campus in August 2022 ... which was also the day Al and his wife, a senior national affairs correspondent for ABC News, officially became empty nesters.
The pair also share their daughter, Leila, as well as Courtney, Al's daughter from a previous marriage. Courtney made the pair grandparents when she gave birth to Sky Clara Laga in July 2023.
It was a double graduation weekend for the TODAY weatherman and co-host, 70, who also gave a commencement address to Siena College's class of 2025 on May 18. "My kids will be so embarrassed, which is really the bonus of being a parent," he said before starting his speech.
It seems as though Al couldn't be prouder of his youngest child. Al concluded his post by writing, "Way to go, my boy."
