The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever have been in the spotlight since they drafted Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, respectively, last year. Both players were collegiate superstars and helped grow women's basketball so much that their games are being moved to bigger arenas.
For example, the Sky's two home matchups against the Fever this season will be played at the United Center, where the NBA's Chicago Bulls play. Those will be the first two WNBA games ever at that arena, per the Sky's website.
Indiana won two of its three games against Chicago last season, but the latter squad now has a new-look roster, which it revealed on Thursday via social media.
The team has 12 players, with Hailey Van Lith, Ariel Atkins, Rebecca Allen, Maddy Westbeld, Kia Nurse, and Courtney Vandersloot all new arrivals. The complete roster is as follows:
Reese played with Van Lith at LSU in 2023-24. The two helped the Tigers make the Elite Eight, where they fell 94-87 to Caitlin Clark's Iowa squad.
The latter star was then drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever, and the former went No. 7 to the Sky. Van Lith transferred to TCU and made the Elite Eight again, losing to Texas 58-47. After that, Chicago took the 23-year-old No. 11 overall in the 2025 draft.
Meanwhile, Vandersloot played with the Sky from 2011-22 and was on the 2021 championship team. The veteran guard then went to the New York Liberty in 2023 and helped them win it all last year.
Indiana will host Chicago at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday in the season opener.
