Honolulu Fire Department personnel rescued a disabled 21-foot boat with two people on board off Kalaeloa Friday afternoon.
At about 5 :24 p.m., HFD received a 911 call reporting a boater in distress and sent five units with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived at the Sand Island boat ramp to prepare for rescue boat operations, HFD said in a news release.
The vessel two boaters onboard had engine trouble and was adrift about 2.5 miles off Kalaeloa, officials said.
HFD launched a rescue boat which reached the disabled boat at 6 :24 p.m.
Rescue personnel boarded and confirmed that there were no injuries and rigged the vessel for towing, HFD said. The rescue boat safely towed the vessel, reaching the boat ramp at 8 :36 p.m.
