Amanda Seyfried says she won't apologize for calling Charlie Kirk 'hateful' after shooting

(TNND) -- Actress Amanda Seyfried is not apologetic for the controversial comment she made shortly after the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk in September.

"I'm not f****** apologizing for that," she said in a recent interview with the fashion outlet Who What Wear. "I mean, for f***'s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes."

"What I said was pretty damn factual, and I'm free to have an opinion, of course," she continued.

Seyfried faced backlash in September after commenting, "He was hateful," on an Instagram post about the shooting.

She later clarified her comments in a post on Sept. 17, stating she "can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk's murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable."

"No one should have to experience this level of violence," she added. "This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?"

Kirk was fatally shot on Sept. 10 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University for his organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA).

Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Kirk, is facing charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, tampering with a witness, and violent offense committed in the presence of a child.

State prosecutors said they would seek the death penalty against Robinson should he be convicted after trial.
