Brits have been warned to brace themselves for even more brutal weather conditions starting next month. Fresh weather maps from WXCharts reveal that certain parts of the UK could witness snowfall in the very near future.
The GFS advanced modelling system forecasts that some regions might be covered in a white blanket from October 18 and October 19. Residents in Scottish cities such as Perth and Inverness could face the initial onslaught of snow.
However, as the day progresses, it may extend further north and west into Ross and Cromarty, reports the Mirror. This puts counties including Perthshire, Invernessshire, Ross County and Cromartyshire at risk.
The predictions come from WX Charts, with the maps confirmed by meteorological forecasters at Ventusky. A Met Office outlook for October 8 to October 17 issued an alert regarding changing weather patterns, according to Birmingham Live.
It statea: "A broadly westerly pattern to start, maintaining relatively mild conditions, especially by night, with some weaker frontal systems moving in from the Atlantic. These will bring further spells of rain or drizzle at times, most likely affecting northern and western areas. Eastern areas generally look drier.
"By the weekend (11/12 October), there is a signal for pressure to build from the west or southwest of the UK, this means mostly lighter winds and settled for the bulk of the UK with only a risk of wet and at times windy weather for the north or east at the weekend. Under the settled conditions variable amounts of cloud, but fog an increasing risk where skies remain clear, possibly turning cooler later in the period as winds come from the east."
The October 18 to November 1 outlook states: "The latter half of October will see a transition to more widely unsettled conditions once more, though the timing of this remains unclear.
"Whether this takes the form of successive depressions moving in from the Atlantic or a rather slower evolving weather pattern remains to be seen, but there is a greater chance of more places seeing more frequent spells of rain or showers and possibly strong winds later in the month. Temperatures probably close to average overall."
Today: Gale-force winds will continue to subside on Sunday. Southern and eastern regions can expect some sunshine, particularly early on, though scattered downpours will develop, especially in western areas. Conditions will become increasingly overcast elsewhere, with some patchy rain reaching the northwest later.
Tonight: Winds will keep weakening overnight, particularly across the south. Bursts of rain are expected in northern areas, whilst elsewhere will remain drier with some clear intervals. A warmer night is anticipated for many.
Monday will see wet and rather windy conditions in the northwest. The rest of the country can expect mostly dry weather with lighter winds and some sunny spells, although an isolated shower is possible in the west. Conditions will be slightly milder.
From Tuesday to Thursday: Rain is expected in the northwest on Tuesday, gradually moving southeast and easing off by Wednesday. High pressure will then build, leading to mostly dry conditions with some sunny spells and more settled weather. Temperatures will hover around average.
