Noche UFC Captures Two Sports Emmys for Landmark Event at The Sphere

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's memorable event at The Sphere has received some accolades from outside the MMA realm.

Noche UFC, also known as UFC 306, received a pair of Sports Emmy awards on Tuesday night -- one for Outstanding Graphic Design -- Specialty and another for Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction. The 46th annual event was held at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York.

The Outstanding Graphic Design honor was for the the film, "For Mexico, For All Time," which ran in six, 90-second segments throughout the pay-per-view portion of the card. UFC chief content officer Craig Bolsari was on hand to accept the awards for the Las Vegas-based organization.

Prior to Noche UFC, Dana White revealed that the promotion spent $20 million on the event. The venue, with its giant LED screen depicting different worlds during bouts, was as much the star of the show as the fighters. White also said that the UFC's venture at The Sphere would be a one-off event.

Noche UFC took place on Sept. 14 and saw Merab Dvalishvili capture the bantamweight crown with a unanimous decision triumph over Sean O'Malley in the evening's main event. In the co-headliner, Valentina Shevchenko regain the flyweight strap with a five-round verdict against Alexa Grasso.
