A Jagannath University student died from a heart attack last night at a restaurant near the campus in Dhaka. He was 26.
Deceased Hasibur Rahman, of Bhola, was a 12th batch student of the geography and environment department, said JnU Proctor Professor Tajammul Haque.
He was the joint convener of Jagannath University (JnU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), said JnU JCD member secretary Shamsul Arefin.
Witnesses said Hasibur was at a restaurant near the campus with Arefin and another JCD leader when he suddenly suffered convulsions and chest pain. He was immediately rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival around 10:00pm.
Dr Mahmud, who was on duty at the emergency department of DMCH, said, "Hasibur Rahman had already passed away before reaching the hospital. He suffered a heart attack."
His body will be taken to Bhola for burial.
Proctor Tajammul said, "It is extremely sad to see a student pass away like this. We will all pray for Hasib. May Allah forgive him."
