BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- As peak camping season unfolds, families are taking the roads to enjoy the great outdoors.
While exploring nature offers a wonderful opportunity for family bonding, experts warn of potential risks that parents should be aware of.
Dr. Mike Patrick, an emergency medicine physician at Nationwide Children's Hospital, emphasized the importance of being prepared.
"There are a few risks parents should be aware of," said Dr. Patrick. He advised families to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable camping experience.
Drinking plenty of water and wearing lightweight long sleeves to avoid exposed skin can help prevent mosquito bites, says Dr. Patrick.
