The Pol-Blood initiative, spearheaded by the Kerala Police, has emerged as an essential support system, amassing 1,13,000 units of blood since its inception in April 2021. What began as a small effort to aid blood banks is now a substantial operation addressing urgent medical needs.
Through the innovative Pol-App, the Kerala Police connect those in need with registered donors. The initiative stands out as the nation's first effort of its kind, bridging the gap between blood banks and patients requiring critical care for surgeries and chronic illnesses.
To further its reach, the police plan to broaden the initiative with organized camps, partnering with Kudumbashree, government bodies, and private sectors. This expansion aims to eliminate dependency on opportunistic agents and bolster voluntary donations across the region.
